One of my favorites Space-Rock Bands, among other styles is Failure. This is the first track from Fantastic Planet.

Failure was an American rock band (often also classified as alternative rock and/or space rock) that was active from 1990 to 1997, during which they recorded and released three critically acclaimed albums. They are often compared to other hard rock bands from that time that were similarly labeled as "alternative", such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Bush, but are distinguished by their meticulous attention to textural sonic detail, inventive use of guitar effects and signal processing, and the overall expansive sound design of their later albums.

A curiosity about the Band.

Maynard James Keenan took borrow the song "The nurse who loved me" and made an excellent cover for APC on their second album "Thirteen Steps", among other things.

An eccentric bass player, but one of my favorites, Les Claypool with Primus.

                                           

Primus is an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, currently composed of bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane. Primus originally formed in 1984 with Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, later joined by Lane, though the latter two departed the band at the end of 1988. Now featuring LaLonde and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander, Primus recorded their debut, Suck on This in 1989, followed by four studio albums;Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda, and Tales from the Punchbowl. Alexander left the band in 1996, replaced by Bryan "Brain" Mantia, and Primus went on to record the original theme song for the TV show South Park and two more albums, Brown Album andAntipop, before declaring a hiatus in 2000.

A Perfect Circle is an American rock supergroup formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdeland Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The original incarnation of the band also includedPaz Lenchantin on bass, Troy Van Leeuwen on guitar, and Tim Alexander on drums. The latest line-up features Puscifer and Ashes Divide live bassist Matt McJunkins, former guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha; and session drummer Josh Freese, who is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, Devo, and The Vandals. Despite having a varied cast since inception, the stylistic content of the songs has remained consistent with Howerdel as composer, and Keenan penning the lyrics.

Porcupine Tree

Porcupine Tree is a progressive rock band formed by Steven Wilson in 1987 in Hemel Hempstead, England. Their music is difficult to categorise, being associated with bothpsychedelic rock and progressive rock, yet having been influenced by trance, krautrock andambient due to Steven Wilson and Richard Barbieri's penchant for the Kosmische Musikscene of the early 1970s, led by bands such as Tangerine Dream, Neu! and Can.^[3] Since the early 2000s, their music has been leaning towards progressive metal and alternative rock.
